Frequently Asked Questions

Practical answers to help you plan your trip

Booking

Our booking system lets you search available vehicles, compare specifications, and reserve the car that matches your route. Confirmation arrives by email with a voucher containing all details and the contact information for the local rental company.

How do I book a vehicle?

Enter your pickup location, dates, and times on the home page. Browse the results, select a vehicle that suits your needs, fill in your details, and pay the booking advance online. You will receive a voucher by email immediately after confirmation.

What information do I need to provide when booking?

You need your full name as it appears on your driving licence, email address, phone number, flight details if picking up at Skopje Alexander the Great Airport (SKP), and a valid debit or credit card for the online advance payment.

Can I book for someone else?

Yes. Enter the driver's name and details during booking. The main driver must present their own licence and meet the age and document requirements at pickup. The person who books and pays does not need to be the driver.

Payment and Advance

When you book online, you pay a booking advance by card. The advance secures your reservation. The remaining balance is settled when you collect the vehicle, and the accepted payment method varies by vehicle and is shown clearly during booking and on your voucher.

How much do I pay online and how much at pickup?

You pay a booking advance online by card. The remainder is due at pickup. The split and the accepted payment methods for the balance are specified on each vehicle listing and in your voucher.

What payment methods do you accept online?

We accept debit and credit cards online for the booking advance. Cash cannot be used for online payments. For more details, visit our payment methods page.

Can I pay the balance in cash?

It depends on the vehicle. Some allow cash, others require a card. The accepted methods for the balance are listed in the vehicle description during booking and in your confirmation voucher.

Deposit and Credit Card

A security deposit is a temporary hold placed by the rental company when you pick up the vehicle. This is independent from the booking advance or any coverage you select. The amount, card type, and cardholder requirements are vehicle-specific and stated in your voucher.

Do I need a credit card?

It depends on the vehicle you choose. Some vehicles require a credit card in the main driver's name for the security deposit, while others accept debit cards. Check the vehicle details during booking and in your voucher.

What if I only have a debit card?

Select a vehicle that accepts debit cards for the deposit. If you want a vehicle that requires a credit card, consider asking your bank to increase your debit card limit temporarily, or arrange a credit card before your trip.

When is the deposit released?

The rental company releases the hold after you return the vehicle undamaged and with a full fuel tank. The time it takes for the funds to appear in your account depends on your bank, typically between three and ten business days.

Documents and Age

You must present a valid driving licence at pickup. An International Driving Permit is recommended alongside your national licence. Age and licence-holding period vary by vehicle, so check the requirements in the vehicle details and on your voucher before you travel.

What documents do I need at pickup?

Bring your valid driving licence, International Driving Permit (recommended), passport or ID card, the credit or debit card used for the deposit, and your printed or electronic voucher. The rental company will check these documents before handing over the keys.

How old do I need to be?

Age and licence-holding requirements depend on the specific vehicle. Some vehicles are available to drivers aged 21 or older with one year of licence history, while others require drivers aged 23, 25, or older with more experience. Check the terms in the vehicle listing.

Do I need an International Driving Permit?

An International Driving Permit is recommended alongside your national driving licence. It helps avoid misunderstandings with authorities and rental staff, especially if your licence is not in Latin script.

Pickup and Return

You collect the vehicle from the local rental company at the location and time you selected during booking. The company's contact details and exact address or meeting point are in your voucher. At pickup, you sign the rental agreement and note any existing damage.

Where do I pick up the vehicle?

Pickup is at the location you chose when booking, such as Skopje Alexander the Great Airport (SKP) or the city. The rental company may have a desk at the terminal, a nearby lot, or offer delivery to your hotel. Exact instructions are in your voucher.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Contact the rental company using the phone number in your voucher as soon as you know about the delay. Most companies will adjust your pickup time if you notify them promptly. Contact details are provided in your confirmation email.

Can I add a second driver or child seat?

Yes. Additional services such as a second driver, child seat, cross-border permit for Albania, Kosovo, Greece, Bulgaria, or Serbia, and highway vignette are available for an extra fee. Request these when you book or contact us in advance.

Driving in Macedonia

North Macedonia drives on the right. Urban speed limits are 50 km/h, rural roads 80 km/h, and highways 120 km/h. You need an annual highway vignette for all roads, available at border crossings and petrol stations. Fuel stations such as Lukoil, Makpetrol, and OMV are common.

Can I drive to Albania, Kosovo, Greece, Bulgaria, or Serbia?

Cross-border travel to Albania, Kosovo, Greece, Bulgaria, and Serbia is allowed with written permission from the rental company. Request a cross-border permit when you book. Driving outside permitted countries without authorisation will void your coverage and may result in fines.

Do I need a highway vignette?

Yes. An annual vignette is required for all roads in North Macedonia. You can buy one at border crossings or petrol stations. Some rental companies include the vignette, others offer it as a paid extra. Check your voucher or ask at pickup.

What are the main routes and distances?

Skopje Alexander the Great Airport (SKP) is 17 km east of the city centre via the M1 highway. Skopje to Ohrid is about 175 km, to Bitola about 170 km, to Mavrovo National Park about 110 km, to Stobi archaeological site about 90 km, and to Matka Canyon 17 km.

Changes and Cancellation

If your plans shift, contact us as soon as possible. Cancellation and modification terms depend on when you notify us and the policies of the rental company. Review the terms in your voucher and get in touch via email or our contact page.

Can I change my booking dates or pickup location?

Contact us by email at [email protected] or via the contact page. We will check availability and any fees with the rental company. Changes are subject to availability and may incur charges depending on how close to the pickup date you request the change.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation terms vary by rental company and vehicle. Some allow free cancellation up to a certain number of days before pickup, others have stricter terms. The policy is stated in your voucher. Contact us promptly if you need to cancel.
